The city commission is paving the way for a brand new business venture in Birmingham, as they gave the go-ahead for construction on Bell Bistro, located at 185 N. Old Woodward Avenue on Monday, July 11.
Bell Bistro Approved for Construction
The city commission approved groundbreaking construction for a new bistro, Bell Bistro, located at 185 N. Old Woodward Avenue on Monday, July 11. The project includes a complete renovation and redesign of the interior layout, building facade, name, menu, and outdoor dining area that will replace the former theme of The Mad Hatter Bistro. Inside, Bell Bistro will hold 64 seats, with nine at the bar, and its outdoor dining area will provide four additional seats. This is an exciting development for the city of Birmingham, and it promises to be a great success.
Attorney Kelly Allen, representing the applicant, expressed her pride in the project and anticipation for its future growth. “We are really proud of this project and are looking forward to finding more ways to expand our outdoor seating,” Kelly said.
Commissioner Clinton Baller said that the city should take into account the public space it owns when considering outdoor dining opportunities. “It’s important to ensure that we allocate this space fairly among potential users,” Baller said. “We must remember that these streets belong to all of us and should be shared equitably.”
Randy Dickow, owner and agent with Ram Restaurant Group and proprietor of Bell Bistro, expressed his pride in the plans he has in motion with Paris Baguette, the neighboring bakery, and the building owner. “We have great intentions to invest back into this space and make it a beautiful patio if we are permitted,” said Dickow. “This is our way of showing Birmingham how much we care about our city.”
Dickow, the owner of Bell Bistro, has been hard at work negotiating with Paris Baguette and the building owner next door to give his customers a new and exciting outdoor dining area. This proposed patio would provide a comfortable and open-air environment for Bell Bistro’s patrons to enjoy their meals and socialize with one another. The negotiations are ongoing, but the prospects of having this new feature added to Bell Bistro are promising. With the combined efforts of everyone involved, the dream of an exceptional outdoor dining experience might soon become a reality.
With new businesses such as Bell Bistro transforming Birmingham, this city offers promises of countless entertainment options within its urban landscape.
